  • Adopted Revised Education Model Rules

  • Adopted Revised APRN Model Act and Rules

  • Uniform Core Licensure Requirements

    Resolved to reassess the Uniform Core Licensure Requirements for currency and relevance in today’s regulatory arena and report findings and recommendations to the 2009 Delegate Assembly.

  • Approved Associate Member Annual Fee of $1,500

  • Expanded Membership

    Approved Nebraska Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Board as a member and the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia as an associate member.

Delegate Assembly Decisions

  • NCSBN Bylaws Revisions

    Adopted the proposed revisions to clarify election by acclamation when there is one candidate for an elected position. The revision further clarified the role of the Leadership Succession Committee and nominations from the floor.

  • NCSBN Mission Statement Revision

    Reviewed and discussed the purpose of a mission statement as a declaration of purpose that drives other elements of the organization and the current environmental drivers influencing the role and function of nursing regulation.

  • Accepted the 2011-2013 Strategic Initiatives

  • Expanded Membership

    The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia, College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba and Bermuda Nursing Council were accepted as associate members.

  • Model Practice Act and Administrative Rules

    The 2009- 2010 Discipline Resources Committee was charged with developing model rules on boundaries and sexual misconduct based on feedback from several boards of nursing stating that they needed more specific statutory and rule language related to sexual misconduct and boundary violations.

  • Guiding Principles for Continued Competence

    Adopted the Guiding Principles of Continued Competence, which lay the foundation for future work in continued competence and established a basis for a regulatory standard to assist member boards.

  • 2011 NCLEX-PN Test Plan

    Adopted the changes to the NCLEX-PN test plan.

    Approved the proposal to perform an analysis of the issues surrounding regulation of APRN students, faculty and programs that are practicing across state lines or jurisdictional boundaries.

    Rationale: The proposed amendments clarify BOD meeting and vacancy requirements, address congruence in the nomination process for election, and a new composition for the BOD and Leadership Succession Committee (LSC) for the purpose of building a more responsive organization and to better meet the needs of the membership.

  • Expanded Membership

    The Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland & Labrador, College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba, Saskatchewan Association of Licensed Practical Nurses and the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland were accepted as associate members of NCSBN.
